A new year always brings a sense of possibility - fresh calendars, new traditions, and exciting celebrations waiting to be planned. As we step into 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what made last year’s sleepovers so magical and to share what we learned along the way.

After creating 97 sleepover celebrations in 2025, launching new themes and experiences, and welcoming families into unforgettable nights of fun, we’ve gathered our best tips to help parents plan a sleepover that feels elevated, joyful, and completely stress-free.

Whether you’re planning a birthday, a milestone, or simply a cozy night to celebrate friendship, these insights will help you start the year inspired.

Start the Year with the Right Sleepover Theme

One of the biggest takeaways from last year? A well-chosen theme sets the tone for everything. We added four new ready-to-book themes, designed for parents who want a beautiful, cohesive setup without the overwhelm of planning every detail.

How to choose the right theme:

  • Think about your child’s current interests (not just trends)

  • Consider the group size and age range

  • Look for themes that naturally lend themselves to activities and cozy moments

Ready-to-book themes are perfect for a polished, effortless experience, while semi-custom and custom sleepovers allow for deeper personalization - something we brought to life in 11 custom and semi-custom celebrations last year.

Elevate the Experience with Thoughtful Touches

The magic is often in the details. In May, we launched our Slumber Spa add-on, and it quickly became a favorite, with 14 bookings by year’s end. Mini spa moments, cozy robes, and pampering touches created an experience that felt both fun and special.

Other simple ways to elevate a sleepover:

  • Personalized name signage

  • Themed snack or treat stations

  • Small keepsakes guests can take home

These elements create lasting memories without adding stress to the host.

Why Planning Early Makes All the Difference

One lesson we carried straight into the New Year: planning ahead matters.

Our busiest month last year was October, a reminder that popular dates and seasons fill quickly.

  • 6–8 weeks out: Choose your theme and send invitations

  • 2–3 weeks out: Finalize food, activities, and add-ons

  • Week of: Prep logistics and plan photo moments

Starting early gives you more flexibility, better availability, and a calmer hosting experience.

Custom vs. Ready-to-Book: What’s Best for Your Family?

Parents often ask whether custom sleepovers are worth it. The answer depends on your goals.

Custom or semi-custom sleepovers are great for:

  • Milestone birthdays

  • Unique interests or color palettes

  • Families who want a fully personalized look

Ready-to-book themes work beautifully when:

  • You want something elevated but simple

  • Time is limited

  • You still want that “wow” factor

Both options create magical results! It really just boils down to what fits your family best.

Looking Ahead: Booking into the New Year

As we step into this New Year, we’re already booking well into Spring, and we’re so excited about what’s coming next - including new themes and elevated experiences we can’t wait to share.

If a sleepover is on your calendar this year, now is the perfect time to secure your date and start planning something truly special.

Closing Thoughts

The start of a new year is about more than resolutions, it’s about creating moments worth remembering. We’re endlessly grateful to the families who trusted us with their celebrations and can’t wait to bring even more magic to the year ahead.

Ready to plan your child’s sleepover? Let’s make it unforgettable. ✨
